Splat the Cat and 10 More Piggy Game FREEBIES!

This last week we had a great time with finishing up Valentine's day activities and learning about President's Day. I read my kiddos Love, Splat which is one of my absolute favorite books! After reading the book, we drew Splat and measured how much he loved us with Cheerios {which we glued from one end of his arm to the other}. Then wrote a personal narrative about the activity. We used a circle map to brainstorm the most important events. Then we transferred them to our flow map and added transition words with tell-me-more elaborations. We also included an opening and a closing/personal connection. Transferred our stories to pretty paper and FINISHED another personal narrative! Super cute too I might add! Have a look below:

If you would like to do this activity with your kiddos it was super easy. Do a direct draw for Splat, have them glue on Cheerios for some non-standard measurement practice, then write about it. I have  a copy of the cute paper I used {ClIcK HeRe} for a copy. I have MANY other fun personal narratives that include lots of science experiments in my newest unit Write WIth Me. You can check it out HERE:
Where you can also get the flow map for personal narrative writing. Below is an example of one of the activities included in my Third Quarter "Write With Me" Unit.

Now for the next freebie....I came across this idea a few years ago and now I can't remember for the life of me where I saw it. But I changed it a little to make it into a 10 more game and I think the kiddos are going to love it.
It's a little game called Piggy...here is how ya play:

Lay the cards out on the floor. Sit in a circle around the cards. Make sure the cards are spread out. Student one takes a card and shares ten more than the number shown on the card. If they are correct they keep the card. If they are wrong they put the card back. If the student draws a piggy card, ALL students stand up and Say PIGGY, PIGGY, PIGGY...or OINK, OINK, OINK while wiggling their finger by their bottoms like a pig tail. When you say Barnyard, all students sit down quickly and quietly and get ready for the next student to draw a card. This is a super fun game and talk about high engagement! So, here is how the game looks:

{CLiCk HeRe} for your FREE copy of this FUN game! Leave me a little comment too...I would love to hear what you think! Have a great week!

"Eye" Like You!!!! Freebie

I have a quick freebie to share with you...I found this CUTE Valentine card. The one I found was handwritten so I decided to make it on the computer because my handwriting isn't cute enough. Have a look...

SOme of the cards I made I used a HUGE googly eye and they were super cute! You need to cute a whole for the eye to look through. As you can see it says "Eye" Like You! I just hand drew the little alien guy inside...FUN! So here is the blackline master...print back to back. You need to play with your printer so it prints correctly but I think they are adorable! Click on the pic below to grab a copy!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Inch Worm Ruler Freebie!

Hi friends...I have a fun freebie to share with you...check out my inch worm ruler! How cute is he????

CLick {HeRe} if you would like to have a copy of him for your kiddos to play with while learning how to measure. This little guy works perfectly with my third quarter math unit:

Here are some of the non-standard measurement activities found in
Common Core Math Pack

Kiddos use all kinds of different objects to measure pictures in my unit to master non-standard measurement. Add the little inch worm ruler to your "tools" and students will learn how to measure using a ruler the correct way. Students record their measurements on their data sheet and then get to eat some of the measurement tools!
Non-standard measurement+food+inch worm ruler= F.U.N!!!!! AND lots of learning too!

If your interested in my unit go on over to my TpT shop and grab a copy!
Happy Teaching!
