Place Value Madness

I know-I have gone MAD with place value!!!! Another activity for you-CHoose a number 1-60 and write it on the line. Count and connect drawing a line from one to the chosen number (we will use 31). Stop at 31. Go back and count your strings of ten and draw a horizontal line labeling it 1, 2, 3 for 10, 20, 30. See above. Now color the towers of ten and "extra" ones to match your number labeling the tens 10 20, 30. Write a number sentence to match: 30 cubes + 1 cube= 31 cubes in all. Now go back and under line the 1 in 10, 2 in 20, 3 in 30 to show 3 towers or strings of ten.
Complete the sentence: 3 tens and 1 one = 31 ....Clear as mud????? leave a question or comment for clarification! Oh -ya...I will laminate so we can use dry erase markers and use over and over.
